Motivation. The simple term gets slung around in self-development circles, repeated ad nauseam, with little lasting value. A new paradigm? How to motivate yourself daily (with consistency).
This is a stronger inquiry. How can you keep lasting motivation rolling, bouncing from setback to setback without losing enthusiasm?
Once you get this question answered, it’s something that you can fully control. It’s something that can come and go if you’re not careful. Also, it is something only attained sustainably.
These efforts of yours must be consistent and committed; you must go all in to move yourself forward. If you’re not this serious about it, it will never work for you.
As a matter of fact, I don’t know you, but I’m telling you it will just never work for you.
Sorry to burst your bubble…
Motivation, self-improvement, and learning growth never works for anyone.
You work for it and then it starts to return the favor. If you’re not all in, if you’re not committed, if you make excuses, and if you won’t help others, you’ll never be able to motivate yourself. Work instead on making yourself lucky.
“Luck” is just the moment when preparation meets opportunity.
How to Motivate Yourself: The Best Motivation Secret You’ve Ever Heard
The way to permanently motivate yourself and move your life forward is to know your why.
What your motivation to make it worth it to get up in the morning? Why are you doing what you’re doing right now?
Now, most people will say they have to do what they’re doing, or it’s because of the money, but we know better. We know that everyone is in charge of his or her own life; therefore he or she has the ability to change it at anytime they choose. It’s just a choice.
Do you really get up every day and go to your job because you have to?
The answer to these questions is of course not. There is no one holding a gun (hopefully) to your head making you do what hate. Actually, you really don’t have to do anything that isn’t commanded by a law of physics.
Forget all dogma.
Forget all rules.
Finally, forget the suggestions from others.
Stick to your motivation.
If it doesn’t have to do with motivating yourself, don’t worry about it. Most advice is very bad and will actually rapidly move you backwards.
Instead, learn a little something from everyone, but find the 1% of people who are really serious about enormous success and already successful.
A Quick Definition of Your Personal Success
But what exactly is success? It always depends on the specific person, their goals, their path, and strategy to achieve it all.
To use some of my favorite quotes about success:
“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.” – Earl Nightingale
“There is only one success – to be able to spend your life in your own way.” – Christopher Morley
Success is doing exactly what you want with your life while helping others do exactly what they want with theirs.
Unlocking formulas for how to motivate yourself daily become simple tasks once figured out.
But until then, this is a soft skill.
A habit that must be chiseled away at everyday, like most other worthwhile things.
I said simple, not easy.
It’s like Zig Ziglar famously said:
So how are you supposed to apply this motivation as often as bathing?
How to Motivate Yourself Daily: Two Step Formula From the Big Vision
Decide What You’re Really Working For
If you have no idea where you’re going, your motivation to get there will not only be hard but extremely vague. Not to mention you will never get there. Find out where you’re headed in life, pick the end goal, and you will start to notice more relevant opportunities to help you get there.
Example: You’re looking to own an auto repair shop for antiques. You have decided upon the end goal and you now have a direction.
Self-motivation in this direction becomes easier. This is because over the next few months you’ll start to notice every antique car shop in your area. Your focus will sharpen. You will see different auto logos, old cars and parts in conspicuous places that you never focused on prior.
You have now trained your mind’s eye to recognize these things, and now it’s time to take action on them. Since you know where you’re headed you are a bit more enlightened on how to get there and what will help you along the way.
From this point on, learning how to motivate yourself daily is less of a struggle, and more of a process.
Take Action on What Opportunities Come Up, and Sharpen Your Skills Prior
It’s nice to notice these new stimuli and think it’s coincidence that the world is showing them to you.
Don’t just sit there and have your mind blown.
Instead, proactively seek out ways you can take advantage of what’s right in front of you now. The world will conspire with you if you approach it with a strong will and focus, but the ball will not start rolling until you push it.
Figure out who you need to get in contact with, visualize your success, and keep taking consistent action daily.
In order to keep motivation for your ideal high, you will need to set up some successful habits that will help you get there. Nothing happens with out the commitment and consistency behind it.
You don’t need to push super hard from behind your efforts and keep grinding if you don’t like something. You can, and I know a lot of people who utilize this strategy, but it’s more effective to make significant progress in the direction of your choice by being pulled to it.
Say to yourself: “I know where I’m headed because I’ve decided on it, and everyday I wake up and realize that I’m not there yet. So there is still work to do.”
If you’re looking for motivation on something that is bigger than you, this is a great way to see the bigger picture.
